General Tutorial

There are some things you should know/do before starting work on GPT sites

1. Create an email address that you don't mind getting a lot of mails from. You will get a LOT of junk/spam email from doing offers on GPT sites and you don't want those going to your regular email account.

2. Get an account at Private Phone. It is basically a free voicemail service and you can usually get a local phone number. When you do the offers on GPT sites you have to enter a phone number and telemarketers WILL CALL YOU!! I learned about Private Phone only AFTER I received lots of telemarketing calls. Using my Private Phone number has been GREAT! You can check your voicemails from any phone, which is nice because your house/cell phone isn't constantly ringing but you can still listen to the voicemails and hear what advertisers have to say. Another service I read about on another site is AIM Phoneline.

3. You will need to clear your cookies often. I downloaded CCleaner and it has made that a lot easier and faster. It is way easier than doing it manually and you can create a safe list of sites that you don't want to clear cookies from (such as sites that store your login info, like all your GPT sites, or your email sites, etc.)

4. Get a Paypal account. A lot of the GPT sites use this as their only method of payment so you will need one. It is a safe and secure site, I've used it for over 5 years with no problems.

5. I know I said to use a new email account when doing offers on GPT sites, but when actually signing up for the site you need to use your regular email address. This is how the GPT site administrators will contact you with problems or with site news.

6. If you have a web accelerator turn it off.

7. You are risking being banned from GPT sites if you give false information when filling out offers or surveys

8. Different GPT sites work best for different people. Some sites will have offers that credit really quickly for some and not so fast for others. However, even if a site isn't working for you, give your referral link out and make money off people it DOES work for!

9. Some offers take longer than others to credit so don't freak out if they don't credit right away. Some offers credit within minutes, some take hours or a few days. It just depends on the offer.

10. You can only have 1 account per GPT site per household. This is checked using your IP address. If a GPT site finds that there is more than one account in a household all of said accounts will most likely be deleted!

11. Do not use AOL or Netscape browsers when using GPT sites. Only use Internet Explorer (which some say is better) or Firefox (which is what I use and have no problems). You cannot use proxy servers or anonymizers.

12. Make sure your browser is set to accept all cookies

13. Disable all Pop-Up blockers. Once I did this it seemed like my offers went through better but many people have had success without doing this.

14. If you make $600 or more (go you!) at any GPT site you will need to submit a W-9 tax form at for each one. At the end of the year they will report your earnings to the IRS. Contact the IRS for more information.

15. I would start out doing the freebie stuff only, until you get used to it and feel more comfortable doing the trial offers.

16. Usually there are instructions for each offer that tell you exactly how much you need to do to get credit for the offer. Pay attention to these! Sometimes you need to just submit an email address while other times you need to do a 4 or 5 page survey. Only do what you have to do to get credit as to not waste time! *I would complete ALL e-mail/zip submits until the end or until you get to a page that asks you to complete an offer.

17. Clear your cookies often!! Your offers (particularly freebie offers) will credit BEST if you clear your cookies after completing EVERY offer! Clearing your cookies is very important to offers crediting! Don't clear your cookies in the middle of an offer.

18. I leave the survey/offer window open for about 3 minutes after I complete the offer before closing it to make sure it tracks properly.

19. I don't ever do offers where I have to give my social security number. You can if you want, but personally it makes me nervous.

20. Don't do too many offers at a time. I usually only do 5-10 at a time (all from different companies) and then wait for them to credit (then clear cookies!) before doing some more.

21. When doing surveys from companies such as Big Bucks, Winning Surveys, WinMoolah, etc., stop when you get to a page that says "Thank you for your participation...." blah blah blah. Sometimes it makes it look like you have to answer a bunch more questions when you really don't.

22. When and if you feel comfortable to do trial offers, I suggest getting a Visa GIFTcard from Simon.com. You can have one emailed to you for $2 or sent to your home for $6. Using a giftcard Visa will prevent a company from making unauthorized charges on your personal credit card. *Before using a Visa Gift Card to complete an offer, be sure to check the Terms of Service on the GPT site you are doing the offer from, some sites do not allow the use of Visa Gift Cards for offers. Also, be sure to only sign up for trial offers that you are INTERESTED in!

23. Stay organized when doing trial offers and keep track of when the trial offer ends. This way if you don't want to continue with the offer you can cancel before they charge your card again. *You should only sign up for trial offers that you have a genuine interest in!

24. Don't do the same offers on different GPT sites.
